Booms for Construction Applications
At Waco Boom, we service the construction industry by offering insulated fiberglass booms for construction and aerial devices. Insulated elevating work platforms and devices play a key role in facilitating power and lighting infrastructure. These unique machines provide versatility and strength to perform the necessary work. Combined with a Waco Boom filament-wound fiberglass boom, operators can depend on the added protection from damage or injury when encountering live electrical lines.
Digger Derricks
Fitted with an auger and powerful lifting capacity, utility companies and contractors depend on these machines for new construction and maintenance. Diggers set utility poles for telecommunications and electrical transmission and distribution. In addition, they can set transformers and provide linemen with aerial access. Waco Boom excels in the development of robust, high-performance and dielectrically insulated booms for use on digger derricks.
Insulated Work Platforms
An aerial work platform or “bucket truck” provides fast and convenient access to lighting, signage, and other facility maintenance needs. Fitted with an insulated boom, these units help protect operators and bystanders when there is potential contact with live electricity or power lines.
Material Handling Jibs
Waco Boom also manufactures insulated jibs. An aerial device fitted with a jib provides access to tools, transformers, and other materials needed to complete the job. Due to the nature of the electrical work, having an insulated jib is important to prevent additional points of electrical contact.
Functional Machines to Fit Your Customers
Your customer needs confidence that employees and property will be safe. Fiberglass booms manufactured at Waco Boom for construction applications are designed and tested for a minimum Category C rating per ANSI A92.2. These booms provide necessary contact protection and secondary insulation for voltages 46 kV and below. Waco Boom helps customers develop specially made jibs, upper, and lower booms for articulating and telescopic devices. In addition to the dielectric properties, Waco Boom typically designs to a 7:1 Factor of Safety based on customer usage and load requirements.
Tens of thousands of booms over three decades demonstrate Waco Boom’s track record that lift manufacturers and users regularly depend on.
Reliability
Waco Boom manufactures with a specific focus on insulating booms for the aerial work industry and has been held as the industry standard for nearly 30 years. Since 1998, our engineering staff has maintained a presence helping inform and understand industry standards for domestic and international applications.
Waco Boom uses a filament winding process and unique molding techniques, unmatched by any other process. This ensures the highest resin-to-fiber ratio and heightened consistency, which translates to better stiffness and durability, prevention of air and moisture gaps, lighter weight, and superior aesthetics. When designing to customers’ needs for safety of life and property, choose the boom that is backed by the best quality, expertise, and service.
Innovation
All progress and development at Waco Boom reflects back to manufacturing the best filament wound booms. The quality assurance program is built on the premise of continual improvement. This improvement is pursued in production efficiencies, new tooling and part designs, enhanced quality checks, and engineering research.
Waco Boom performs onsite destructive break testing and dielectric tests. This focus and attention is unparalleled and new challenges are welcome to help drive a safer, lighter, stronger, and unique product for the aerial lift industry.
Boom Availability
Based on performance requirements, Waco Boom can help recommend and develop the proper boom for your application. Tooling can be machined to create a unique, proprietary component for your design. In addition, on the back you will find a chart with readily available common boom sizes.
